Yana Rubanovskaya was born in a small village in the north of Yakutia. After school she moved to study in Moscow and graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of the Russian State University for the Humanities. She devoted several years to work as a scriptwriter on television projects. As a director, she has shot more than 15 documentaries, including participants and winners of several film festivals.
