Author, editor and screenwriter, she is best known for her work in the movie Escape Room. She wrote the series Counterpart, American Gods, and Black Sails.
Born November 23, 1991, in Moscow. She completed her secondary education at School No. 58 (grades 1-6). From the age of 8, she studied piano and violin at the Alexey Sviridov Children's Music School (now the S. Ya. Lemeshev Children's Music School). She attended Orthodox Gymnasium No. 262 with an ethno-cultural focus (grades 7-9).

Maria Melnik is a screenplay writer, who started off on the small screen with Black Sails (2015). She worked as an assistant writer on several episodes and later, wrote an episode independently. In 2017, he severed as an executive story editor for American Gods, followed by Counterpart in 2018. Her other projects include Escape Room (2019).
