Born in Brăila in 1955, Dan Chișu is a Romanian film director, scriptwriter, film producer, novelist, actor, and the founder of DaKINO Film Production Company. He created this company in order to produce and co-produce independent films (feature/ short) and other film related events, such as DaKINO International Film Festival, one of the oldest film festivals in Romania, held every year in Bucharest since 1991.
Dan Chișu is also known for the series of TV documentaries such as Around The World in 80 Days (2004), Reality of a Myth - Peruvian Shamans (2007), The Earth's Taste in 80 Spices (2008). He produced and starred in a TV Show called I Eat, Therefore I Am, which was broadcast during four years on a national television.
In 2008 Dan Chișu directed his first feature film, WEBsITEsTORY, followed by Ursul (The Bear) in 2011 and Și Caii Sunt Verzi Pe Pereți (Chasing Rainbows) in 2013 - nominated for best film at Cleveland International Film Festival. He continues his career as director with Déjà Vu (2014 - Cairo International Film Festival, Mons Film Festival), Bucharest Nonstop (2015 - Cairo International Film Festival). His most recent film, The Anniversary, premiered in Warsaw International Film Festival 2017.
